LCA HISTORY

Lanier Christian Academy is the unification of two local Christian schools, North Georgia Christian School that began in 1984 under the name Westminster Christian School and Heritage Academy that began in 1996.    North Georgia Christian began as a ministry of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Gainesville and Heritage Academy began as a result of several homeschool families coming together to formalize their children’s education in a homeschool environment.

Both NGC and Heritage have had several moves during their combined 53 years of service to the community’s Christian families.  Of significance is the fact that NGC became independent of its parent church in 2008, changing its name from Westminster Christian School to North Georgia Christian School.  It has graduated ten senior classes.  Heritage began as a high school and has graduated nineteen senior classes and has added an elementary school in recent years.

On September 1, 2015, after thirteen months of prayer and seeking the Lord’s direction, the announcement was made that the two schools would unify as of the fall of 2016.   The name of the new school is Lanier Christian Academy and is offering two models of education.  The Traditional Model offered previously by NGC and the University Model that has been in place at Heritage will afford families a choice as to how their children are educated.

As we move forward, seeking wisdom and guidance from God, there are plans to offer an on-line model, develop a Leadership Institute and begin a Learning Center.
